About my portraits, illustrations and paintings

I also do portraits, paintings and illustrations in a variety of media including oil paints, coloured crayon, watercolour, black ink and pencil. I work from photos that I take (if you live near me), or from photos you supply. I will guide you through the reference material I will need to get the best results.

My portraits become treasured heirlooms and are owned for life as a happy memory of children or pets from times past. Getting an excellent likeness is a priority for me and I strive to capture the person or pet in a relaxed and complementary pose and expression that captures their personalitity.

The commissioning process

Step one. Once you have made contact with me I will carefully help you select a suitable photo for me to get the best possible result you want for your portrait or painting of 'the subject' for my reference. If possible I can come and visit you to take the photos myself.

Step two. I will email a scan of the drawing for you to see progress for you to approve. At this stage I ask for the payment by cheque before I finish the piece.

Step three. I will supply you with the finished portrait or painting by post or by hand delivery and send a scan of the painting for your approval.

Please allow a suitable time for me to complete your drawing or painting, usually this is 2-3 weeks.
